  • Từ này mang sắc thái trang trọng, thường gắn liền với các buổi lễ cắt băng khánh thành (ribbon-cutting ceremony) rất phổ biến trong văn hóa sự kiện Việt Nam.
  • Khác với 'reveal' (tiết lộ một bí mật), 'unveil' nhấn mạnh vào việc đưa một cái gì đó đã chuẩn bị kỹ lưỡng ra công chúng một cách chính thức.

Etymology

Late 16th century: from the prefix un- (expressing reversal) + the verb veil. It follows the pattern of the French word 'dévoiler'. Based on Latin 'velare' (to cover), from 'velum' (a cloth).
