  • Khái niệm 'Peer' là quý tộc Anh là một nét văn hóa đặc thù của phương Tây, không có tương đương chính xác trong hệ thống cấp bậc lịch sử của Việt Nam (thường dùng Công, Hầu, Bá, Tử, Nam).
  • Trong môi trường làm việc Việt Nam, 'peer' thường được hiểu là những người cùng cấp bậc (ví dụ: cùng là trưởng phòng) thay vì chỉ là người cùng tuổi.

Etymology

Noun: Middle English (in the sense 'equal'), from Old French 'per', from Latin 'par' (equal). The sense 'member of the nobility' arose because the barons were originally 'peers' of the king. Verb: Late 16th century, perhaps a variant of 'appear' or related to Low German 'piren' (look closely).
