Common mistakes
She blamed it to me.
She blamed it on me.
When the thing (it) is the object, use the preposition 'on' for the person.
I blame for him.
I blame him.
If the person is the direct object, do not use 'for' immediately after 'blame'. Use 'blame somebody for something'.
He is to be blamed.
He is to blame.
In the active infinitive structure 'to blame', it has a passive meaning of 'to be responsible'.
Don't put the blame at me.
Don't put the blame on me.
The standard collocation is 'put/lay the blame on someone'.
I have myself to blame it.
I have myself to blame.
In the idiom 'to have oneself to blame', you do not need an extra object 'it' at the end.
Don't confuse with
- fault
A mistake or a weakness in someone's character.
“It's not my fault that the car broke down.”
Use 'fault' for the mistake itself, and 'blame' for the act of saying someone did it.
- accuse
To say that someone has done something illegal or wrong.
“He was accused of theft.”
'Accuse' is often used for crimes, whereas 'blame' is used for mistakes or bad situations.

Etymology
