Etymology
From French ressentiment, from resentir 'to feel again, feel deeply', from re- (intensive) + sentir 'to feel' (from Latin sentire). The meaning shifted in the early 17th century from a general sense of 'feeling' or 'appreciation' to specifically 'a feeling of grievance or anger'.
