  • Khái niệm 'royal court' (triều đình) gợi nhớ đến lịch sử phong kiến Việt Nam (ví dụ: triều đình nhà Nguyễn), giúp người học hình dung về sự phân chia cấp bậc và lễ nghi.
  • Thành ngữ 'out of court' tương đương với khái niệm 'hòa giải ngoài tòa án' vốn rất được coi trọng trong văn hóa Việt Nam (trọng tình hơn trọng lý).

Etymology

Etymology: From Old French 'cort', which came from the Latin 'cohors' meaning an enclosure or yard. Originally referred to a physical courtyard, then to the people gathered in the royal courtyard (the retinue of a king), and later to the legal tribunal held in such places. (Source: Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology).
