In modern English, 'data' is usually treated as a singular uncountable noun with a singular verb, though scientists still use the plural.

Because it is uncountable in general use, use 'a lot of' or 'much' instead of 'many'.

Use 'from' to indicate the source of the data.

Don't confuse with

Data is used for both singular and plural in common speech, but datum is the strictly formal singular.

  • date

Do not confuse the spelling; 'data' ends in 'a' and refers to information.
