'Corpse' cannot be used metaphorically for inanimate objects like machines.

When used to mean 'laughing uncontrollably', 'corpse' is usually intransitive unless specifying who was made to laugh (e.g., 'she corpsed him').

Etymology

From Middle English corps, from Old French cors, corps ('body'), from Latin corpus ('body'). The 'p' was later restored in English spelling to match the Latin origin.
